Dear Heptabase User,
In the latest version, we've introduced new Chat features and enhanced your Inbox. You can now chat directly with major AI models using your notes as context, and easily collaborate by chatting with your collaborators. Let’s explore what's new!
Chat: Ask AI questions using selected non-PDF cards as context
You can now chat with powerful AI models using your notes as context. When you mention your notes in a message, the AI analyzes them before responding. You can also edit the AI's responses—highlight important points or remove redundant details.
Currently, we support the latest models from OpenAI, Gemini, and Anthropic. You'll need your own API key to use this feature. Once out of beta, we plan to offer free credits and an advanced plan.
Right now, you can only use note cards as chat context. Support for PDF cards, images, transcripts, and whiteboards is coming soon!
Chat: Chat with collaborators and extract messages on a whiteboard
You can now chat directly with your collaborators! If you've invited people to your whiteboards or cards, just start chatting with them right there. All messages mentioning or replying to you will show up in your Inbox. After responding or taking action, mark messages as done to keep your Inbox organized.
Whenever you find important insights, useful knowledge, or key conclusions—whether from chats with collaborators or AI—you can easily drag those messages onto your whiteboards. This helps you deepen your understanding while keeping a convenient link back to the original conversation.
Inbox: Unify quick capture, reminders, to-dos, and receive notifications from messages that mention or reply to you
In version 1.58.0, we introduced the Inbox feature. Cards captured using the Cmd + N shortcut, mobile app, or web clipper now go directly to your Inbox, where you can organize them later. To manage existing cards, simply right-click and add them to the Inbox.
After tagging or adding them to whiteboards, you can mark them as done to keep your Inbox tidy. If you're not ready to organize an item yet, you can set a reminder instead.
In version 1.59.0, you can now get notifications when someone mentions you or replies to your messages. You can also manually add important messages (from AI or collaborators) to your Inbox to track and review later.
Collaboration: Support sharing a single card with all types of permissions
We've introduced support for single-card sharing! You can now share individual cards with others, granting them permissions such as Can View, Can Chat, Can Edit, or Full Access.
We're also working on sharing and publishing a single card via a link, just like with whiteboards. Stay tuned!
