Dear Heptabase User,
Last month, we officially launched Heptabase 1.0. If you happened to miss the related news, please take a look at this complete update article.
Starting this month, we are making changes to the way and frequency of sending updates to you. In addition to reviewing the features we have built, we also want to provide more valuable content, such as our users' use cases, tips for using Heptabase, and educational content related to Heptabase that we have recently discovered. At the same time, we will be publishing our newsletter on our public wiki, so you can easily share it with your friends. We hope you will enjoy these new changes!
Use case - Journal Calendar Whiteboard
Although we designed Heptabase as a tool for learning and research, we're constantly surprised and amazed by how users use this tool in ways that we never thought of before. In early September, one of our users, Panta (pantaberuhito), shared how he built a calendar using journals and whiteboards. You can learn more about his use case at the following link.
Tip: Hold Shift key for Better Card Alignment
When dragging cards in Heptabase, try holding down the Shift key. You'll notice that the cards move along a hidden grid, which helps with better alignment. This method can also be used to create a straight line between two connected cards!
Heptabase Related Contents
A new YouTube channel called "One Thing" has created three introduction videos about Heptabase. We recommend checking them out!
Shu Omi has created a concise and informative episode called "Heptabase: A New Visual Note-Taking App King?!" We really like it!
The Effective channel has produced an episode titled "The Best of Many PKM Tools in One | Heptabase First Look" We look forward to more in-depth coverage!
In addition to the resources mentioned above, we are excited to share some new features we introduced this month!
Full Functional Mobile App (Almost)
Our mobile app has undergone several upgrades since late August, bringing many new features and improving overall performance. You can now search for blocks, tags, and highlights within the app, along with cards, journals, and whiteboards. We will be launching our newly designed home in the upcoming weeks.
Version History
We have recently introduced version history for cards, journals, highlights, and text elements. You can now restore any previously saved version from a specific time and device. For more information on how Heptabase takes snapshots for the version history, please refer to this guide in our public wiki.
In-App Customer Support
In late September, we introduced a built-in customer support system. To access it, simply click on the "Help & documentation" icon located in the bottom-left corner of the app. Since the upgrade, we have received positive feedback from users who appreciate the convenience of providing feedback directly within the app. If you would like to know when to use in-app support instead of our Discord community, please refer to this guide.
Highlight Color and Sort
For all highlights you created and imported, you can add colors to them. You can now sort PDF highlights by pages or creation time. As for Readwise highlights, we sort them based on the orders provided by Readwise.
Quick Look Whiteboard Objects
In the desktop app, we have introduced a quick look feature for whiteboard objects by pressing the space key!
Updates from the Heptabase Team: Launching Our First Affiliate Program
After continuously launching upgrades, releasing the 1.0 version, and introducing a 7-day free trial in August, we have seen rapid growth with thousands of new users, and many of them are requesting educational video content on Heptabase. However, as a small team of six people dedicating 100% of our time to building the product and handling customer support, we can barely spare time for video production ourselves.
Therefore, we are looking for creators who meet the following criteria to help us create high-quality educational content on Heptabase:
- You are a user of Heptabase and genuinely find it useful in your life. (If you are not yet, feel free to join and experience it.)
- You have been actively creating content on YouTube or managing newsletters/blogs on a monthly basis.
- Your content is presented in English.
- You can accept payouts through PayPal or Stripe.
If you meet the above criteria and are interested in becoming our affiliate partner, please fill out the form below. After reviewing the application, if we find that you are a great fit, we will send you emails explaining our commission plan and how it offers generous lifetime revenue-sharing rewards for creating high-quality educational content that helps our users develop good learning and research habits and achieve more in their lives.
If you don't meet all of the criteria, you can still fill out the form. We will contact you when we are ready to work with more partners in different regions and platforms. If you have any questions, please email us at affiliate@heptabase.com. We are happy to discuss any matters related to this and we look forward to having you on board!
We hope that these updates will improve your experience on Heptabase and make your learning easier and more enjoyable.
If you have any feedback or suggestions, or you want to share your use cases or contents related to Heptabase, please don't hesitate to chat with us in our Discord Community or reply to this email directly.
Stay tuned for future updates, and we hope you have a great day!
Best regards,
Heptabase Team
